What is CERAC?
Like traditional dental crowns, CERAC (short for Ceramic REConstruction) crowns are made from the highest quality materials and can restore look, feel, and function to a tooth that has been damaged from injury, decay, or invasive dental work. Unlike traditional dental crowns, however, CERAC crowns can be created in approximately one hour, limiting the total time you spend at Dr. Van Wicklen’s dental office.
How does CERAC Work?
At your dental appointment, Dr. Van Wicklen will first fully examine your mouth to determine if you’re a candidate for CERAC dental crowns. If he decides that you can benefit from this unique service—and if you decide to proceed with treatment—Dr. Van Wicklen will digitally design your future dental crown with technologically advanced precision. Then, these specifications will be put into the CERAC machine, which will mill your crown while you wait, therefore eliminating the need for the placement of a temporary crown and a second appointment.
Depending on the placement of your dental crown and the specifics of your dental needs, Dr. Van Wicklen will decide the best material from which your dental crown will be made. Once your crown is fabricated, Dr. Van Wicklen will place the crown, ensure its natural appearance and secure fit, and set it using top-of-the-line bonding and curing techniques.
