Cosmetic Bonding

Chipped and widely spaced teeth can look rather unappealing. Cosmetic bonding provides a quick solution to reshape teeth by adding structure. For bonding, Dr. Van Wicklen uses composite resin, the same material used for white fillings.

 The Bonding Procedure

First, the composite resin is shade-matched to the tooth on which it will be placed. The tooth is prepared, then the liquid bonding applied and hardened with a soft curing light. Dr. Van Wicklen then shapes the bonding to look natural. We will buff and polish your tooth as a finishing touch.

Bonding is ideal for a short-term repair, as when a child chips a tooth. It can last 5-7 years or more with proper care. However, bonding is not as durable as veneers. If you’d like a more long-term solution to chips and gaps, ask Dr. Van Wicklen about custom porcelain veneers.
