Did you know that people with dazzling smiles are more likely to succeed at job interviews? A study by Kelton Research found, job candidates who underwent teeth whitening prior to interviews tended to receive offers and higher salaries.
Types of Teeth Stains
Tooth enamel is porous, so as we age, our teeth naturally darken. Foods and beverages with dark pigment, tobacco use, and tetracycline medications also stain teeth. For most patients, dentist-supervised teeth whitening effectively removes these stains. Some stains, however, are intrinsic – meaning that they originate inside teeth. An example is fluorosis, which appears as white horizontal lines. Most often, fluorosis is caused by swallowing fluoride toothpaste during childhood. To correct intrinsic stains, porcelain veneers are a good option.
For your whitening kit, we will fabricate custom bleaching trays and provide you with potent bleaching gel. Apply the gel to the trays and wear them as instructed. Almost immediately, you will notice the stains and discolorations start to fade. Wear the trays each day for about two weeks for best results. Keep your trays after treatment, because you can re-use them as needed for occasional touch-ups.
